Mr. James has over twenty years of management and consulting experience with business, government, non-profit and educational organizations.. He has specialized in the design and management of complex, collaborative multi-stakeholder planning and performance improvement processes.
In the 1980ís he served as president and CEO of Independent Learning Schools, Inc., a private school system with six campuses in the San Francisco Bay Area, which received national acclaim as a model school for the future. Later, Mr. James served as Executive Director for COTS, a non-profit homeless shelter and advocacy organization in Sonoma County, and was a founding member of Sonoma Countyís alternative dispute resolution agency, RECOURSE where he founded a youth offender/victim mediation program for the Sonoma County Juvenile Probation Department.
Mr. James has taught mediation and facilitation skills and served as a court-appointed mediator and settlement referee specializing in the resolution of complex, multi-party litigations. He has led international training programs in collaborative leadership and business coaching to executives and their teams throughout the U.S., Europe and Latin America. He is also active in the non-profit sector, has served on several boards of directors, and is currently a member of the Santa Rosa Green Building Program Development Team.
